Volunteers working to clear ski trails in the Gatineau Park
Volunteers are working hard to clear cross-country ski trails in the Gatineau Park. According to a CBC report, they are working against the clock to clear enough trails for the Gatineau Loppet ski competition, which will be taking place February 15-17.
Downed trees and fallen branches from freezing rain and heavy snow has blocked a lot of the trails and has prevented the usual trail grooming. Most of the major trails are now open (with some minor disruptions here and there). However, there is speculation that some of the back-country trails may not open this year.
