Let’s switch gears and welcome spring and summer activities in the Park! Spring work: Cleaning and maintenance of the Gatineau Park parkway network will take place over the coming weeks. The reopening of the Gatineau, Champlain and Fortune Lake parkways to traffic is scheduled on Friday, May 6, at noon. Services: Grooming operations and the ski patrol service are ending today, March 31, 2016. The success of this season is due to the remarkable work and dedication of the Services récréatifs Demsis inc. team who provided the best trail conditions possible, even though the weather was not always ideal. The National Capital Commission (NCC) also recognizes the volunteer ski and snowshoe patrol team, the special events organizers, including the organizers of the Gatineau Loppet and the participants in the Park Dialogue Winter Trails Workshop. 2016–2017 season summary This was a first for snow biking on the Park’s snowshoe trails. We hope this new snow biking destination creates more options for this sport in the region. Since the launch of the season on December 30, skiers, snowshoers and snow bikers have enjoyed 93 days on the trails. Over 6,900 skiers and close to 900 snowshoers bought a season pass this year. Combined, this means that a core group of more than 7,800 skiers and snowshoers choose the Gatineau Park winter trails as their regular destination.
